m/39 Fur HatType: m/39 Fur Hat (Turkislakki m/39) Material: Sheep skin, grey serge wool Manufacturer: Valtion pukutehdas (VPu) Manufacturing year: 1943 Markings: Valtion pukutehdas -manufacturers mark, SA-stamp, year stamp 43 and intendenture stamp, SA-stamp and sold -mark Ⓜ. Size stamp 59 has been crossed out and size stamp 56 has been stamped instead. This fur hat is an enlisted men type m/39 fur hat. Perhaps due to the manufacturing simplifications the hat is missing grey string to tie the side flaps together and the fur is natural colour, instead of the intended grey dyed colour. The markings are on the flap, which interestingly has backing that is different to the liner and the rest of the hat, even though it is supposed to be the same serge wool as rest of the hat. Part of the liner is torn off the hat and there is conciderable red paint staining of unknown origin on the liner. The usage history of the hat is unfortunately unknown. This hat belongs to the collection of Parola Armour Museum. |
